2011 SPS Cyclists
June 17, 2011 -- SPS Cyclists climbing the Cascade Mountains, WA

May 2011 -- On a wet training day, St. Paul's School, Concord, NH
One week
after final exams end in early June, our group of seven St. Paul’s School
students will leave from Seattle, Washington on a 44-day, 3,425 mile bicycle journey across
the United States to raise money for the charity, Ride 2 Recovery.
Our goal -- $100,000!!
Ride 2
Recovery is a program to benefit mental and physical rehabilitation programs
for wounded US veterans and features cycling as the core activity. Its mission
is to improve the health and wellness of wounded vets in Spinning Recovery Labs
at Military and VA locations, and to support the vets in numerous outdoor
cycling events around the US. Over 90% of each dollar donated to R2R goes
directly to helping wounded soldiers.

One of the
biggest concerns of our country is treating the mental and physical issues our
troops face upon returning home. We owe them a debt of gratitude and that
includes providing the best possible treatment and care. R2R
incorporates cycling as a part of that treatment. Cycling has proven to be
extremely effective not only in the rehabilitation of physical injuries, but
also mental injuries (such as PTSD or TBI). Since it’s inception, R2R has
helped thousands of veterans who have in turn ridden thousands of miles on
their own road to recovery.
We will
arrive on the Atlantic Coast in late July with thousands of miles under our
wheels, and a sense of accomplishment, having spread awareness of this
remarkable program. Without
your help, it would not be possible.
